Kayhi Sofball goes 1-3 on Juneau Roadtrip

The Kayhi Lady Kings softball team wrapped up a four-game road trip in Juneau on Saturday.

Kayhi played two games against both Thunder Mountain and Juneau Douglas high schools, earning their only win of the weekend by beating the Thunder Mountain Falcons on Saturday 15-10 on Saturday morning. The Lady Kings losses were 4-2 against Thunder Mountain on Thursday, 12-9 to Juneau Douglas on Friday, and 7-3 against Juneau Douglas in game two of a doubleheader on Saturday.

Kayhi losses in three of four conference games has allowed Thunder Mountain to build a lead in the conference rankings less than two weeks away from the Region V Tournament; Kayhi and Thunder Mountain entered this past week tied for first place in the conference. Thunder Mountain also has overtaken Kayhi for second place in the AK Class II rankings. The Lady Kings conference record now sits at 7-4, while their overall record is 15-10.

Kayhi now will shift its focus towards the Sitka Lady Wolves, who will host the Lady Kings for a three-game series this coming weekend. Two of the three games will be conference matchups, which will give Kayhi the opportunity to make up lost ground in the final standings before the Region V Tournament currently scheduled for May 26-28 in Ketchikan.
